INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION IMPACT
The City’s bylaws have been amended to permit midrise buildings; however, you do have a say in several aspects of each development which may affect both our community and the overall quality of life. You are not alone; we are all in this together. Add your voice to that of your neighbors to stand a better chance at affecting change.

CUMULATIVE IMPACT OF INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS
The City may describe changes being seen in our neighborhood as normal policy evolution and treat change as a series of manageable individual applications. However, we, the residents, are not only experiencing it as a sudden change in expectations but also as one cumulative neighbourhood event with specific concerns on public safety and infrastructure resilience.

In our neighborhood, Bayview, York Mills and Leslie are not abstract lines on a map. These corridors are the daily operating system of the neighbourhood and facilitate school traffic, emergency services—including to one of only two Adult Level 1 Trauma Centres in Toronto—institutional traffic, commuters, transit, and both construction and local vehicles navigating constrained or dead-end streets.

WHAT ARE WE ASKING FOR?
Although each development will continue to be evaluated individually, YMRA has identified critical infrastructure bottlenecks and is advocating for addressing them rather than permitting incremental development until the damage is either irreversible or cost is prohibitive.

YMRA is also seeking clarity from the City on the new planning vision for our specific area and requesting the opportunity for meaningful input. Likewise, YMRA is asking the province to address concerns in areas of jurisdictional overlap as well.

NEXT STEPS
To continue the conversation and respond to the large number of thoughtful questions received, YMRA will be holding a Residents Virtual Q&A as a follow-up to the town hall. The date and time are still to be determined, and we will keep residents updated once details are confirmed.

We welcome your feedback and encourage community participation. Collective engagement ensures our voices are heard and supports ongoing improvements within the neighborhood.

Thank you for your continued dedication, questions, and commitment to our community.

Sincerely,
York Mills Residents Association
